Why is everyone so fucking incompetent?
I just found like six things that need doing at work because no one left them on my to do list or did them themselves. There are three people who work my position in this office and I’m the only one who can remember that to get our temps work we need to update their required documentation as it expires/is sent in? Really????

Unpopular Opinion Time!
So about a million people on tumblr, including some people I very much like and respect, get really annoyed by people talking about how much they love London or whatever. They say this because that think people have a false image of the place as nothing but London Bridge and double decker buses and Covent Garden shopping or something.
I want to say that while I love you, that’s really...

Did Americans in 1776 have British accents?
winged:
nickpatrick:
Reading David McCullough’s 1776, I found myself wondering: Did Americans in 1776 have British accents? If so, when did American accents diverge from British accents?
The answer surprised me.

This is pretty cool. Also interesting about non-rhotic becoming more of an upperclass thing in Britain; American regional non-rhotic accents are pretty decidedly not seen...

Don’t even need to know why, this is adorable. :D
It’s true. It makes me miss my ratties! They were such lovely, beautiful girls. Rats are so sweet.
I don’t understand why people assume that rats are mean, dirty, whatever. You might not want a pet coyote (ok, I might, but that...

Ugh. I agree with you. So what if Amy is hot while she’s running around saving the world with the doctor? She’s still awesome. People need to CALM DOWN.
I agree! If someone calls someone ugly, then the fandom will be like “SHUT UP THEY’RE NOT UGLY. EVEN IF THEY WERE DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE THEIR CHOICE?” and it should be the same...

I like to imagine that Donna Noble sets an extra...
fuckyeahgallifrey:
She does it, but without understanding why or even realizing she does it. She just knows, in her heart of hearts, that somewhere out there, somewhere very near or very far, there is someone out there who wishes he could spend Christmas with her.
She thinks “Just in case,” as she lays one more place.
Five minutes later, she returns to the table, wondering why she’s prepared...

Hire me and sponsor me for a work visa. Then, I’ll look for other work and continue “working” for you part time (I could clean your house? I could bake you things? I could make phone calls you’d like to avoid?). When two years is up, I can apply for a three year extension and then, after that, indefinite leave to remain. Please?

Art Students’ Mental Health: A Complicated Picture
googletranslation:
“The sheer amount of work here is greater than at any other school I’ve worked in, and students have less free time,” says Glaser, who previously worked in the counseling centers at a branch campus of the University of Wisconsin and at Carleton College.
Assing says studio-art training can be far more stressful than other fields of study. A psychology major, for instance,...

Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you, the 2012...
Michelle Bachmann: "Don’t misunderstand. I am not here bashing people who are homosexuals, who are lesbians, who are bisexual, who are transgender. We need to have profound compassion for people who are dealing with the very real issue of sexual dysfunction in their life and sexual identity disorders.” (2004)
Ron Paul: "The rate of AIDS infection is on the increase again. From the gay point of view, the reasons seem quite sensible. First, these men don't really see a reason to live past their fifties. They are not married, they have no children, and their lives are centered on new sexual partners... because sex is the center of their lives, they want it to be as pleasurable as possible, which means unprotected sex. Third, they enjoy the attention & pity that comes with being sick." (1995 in a newsletter)
Rick Perry: "I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school. " (2011 in a campaign ad)
Mitt Romney: "I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed." (2011 while speaking to unemployed people in Florida. Romney's net worth is over $200 million.)
Newt Gingrich: "She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer." (1994, about his first wife)
Rick Santorum: "Is anyone saying same-sex couples can’t love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?" (2008)
Michelle Bachmann: "Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas." (2009 during a debate)
Mitt Romney: "PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air." (2006, when questioned about driving 12 hours with his dog in a cage strapped to the top of his car)
